Who we are

CCRJ Studios is a family-owned business located in Colorado's Grand Valley on the western slope.

Their journey began in the spring of 2023 during a sunny day at a Palisade winery. Inspired by the comfort of the chairs they were using, the founders—Craig, Chris, Randi, and Julie (CCRJ)—decided to create similar pieces. This led to the development of a broader catalog of contemporary art, barrel furnishings, and reimagined vintage furniture. They acquired wine barrels from a local winery that was closing and started crafting Adirondack-style chairs. The demand from friends and neighbors was so high that they couldn't produce them fast enough. This success transformed their hobby into a full-fledged business, focusing on designing and building furniture and decor made entirely from retired wine barrels.

Craig & Randi Baumgardner

Randi and Craig live in the Grand Valley on Colorado's Western Slope, enjoying outdoor activities, the area's marvelous scenery, and the friendships they've formed with neighbors and local business owners. Craig's woodworking journey began in his father's woodshop, working from plans or sketches to build from a vision. This background now informs their work with retired wine barrels. Each barrel's unique characteristics require adaptations in the resulting products, making every piece handmade and distinctive. The process starts with deconstructing the barrel and laying out the staves to determine each one's potential. After sanding to remove dirt and splinters while preserving the wood's patina, the staves are assigned to a product, and the build process begins. Finishing involves fine sanding, applying Tung Oil to seal the wood fibers and enhance natural coloring, and adding a final coat of protectant (UV or wax) depending on the product's intended use. Randi and Craig value their collaborative relationships with the team, local wineries, and other artists, and take pride in transforming concepts into finished products.
